I have been riding bikes for a long time. Almost everyone in my family has been too. About 4 years ago, I decided that I wanted to take it to the next level. We got a hold of a bike and I started to put in some base miles. Once the season rolled around, I did my first races and I really liked it. That first year, I only did 6 races, but I wanted to do more. We had heard about a team based in the east bay that helped develop junior riders. We called up Jason and then I joined a few of the Wednesday and Sunday rides. 3 years ago, I joined the team and it gave me a whole new look on racing.
When I joined, I learned a lot more about training and racing. When the next racing season came, I did much better. That season, I discovered that racing with teammates is much different than racing alone. Jason, Elaine, and Shawn taught me a lot about teamwork and training. They taught me how to train smarter, not harder, and from them, I have learned so much about bike racing. I can't wait to see what will come these next few years!
